DDB1(Damage Specific DNA Binding Protein 1) is a protein that encodes the DDB1 gene in humans. DDB1 is initially associated with a specific type of DNA repair process called nucleotide excision repair. Since then, the researchers found that DDB1 mainly acts as the core component of CUL4A-based and CUL4B-based E3 ubiquitin ligase complexes. DDB1-mediated CRY1 degradation promotes the stability of FOXO1 protein in liver and FOXO1-mediated gluconeogenesis. Diseases associated with DDB1 include Xeroderma Pigmentosum, Complementation Group E and Xeroderma Pigmentosum Group E.
