DNAJB6 (DnaJ Heat Shock Protein Family (Hsp40) Member B6) is a protein encoded by the DNAJB6 gene in humans. Members of the DNAJ family are characterized by highly conserved amino acid sequences (called "J domain") and act as one of the two molecular chaperones involved in a wide range of cellular events, such as protein folding and oligomeric protein complex assembly. DNAJB6 has been shown to interact with keratin 18. Studies have shown that DNAJB6 inhibits the accumulation of Aβ 42 in a concentration-dependent manner (such as a process of Alzheimer's disease). Diseases associated with DNAJB6 include muscular dystrophy, limb banding, autosomal dominant 1 and autosomal dominant limb banding muscular dystrophy.
