HSD17B8 (Estradiol 17 beta-dehydrogenase 8) is a member of the short-chain dehydrogenase superfamily. HSD17B8 with highest activity towards estradiol. The activity to testosterone is very low. The heterotetramer with CBR4 has NADH-dependent 3-keto acyl-acyl carrier protein reductase activity, so it plays a role in the biosynthesis of mitochondrial fatty acids. In heterotetramers, HSD17B8 binds to NADH. Diseases associated with HSD17B8 include Granulomatosis With Polyangiitis.
