PIN1 (Peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase NIMA-interacting 1) has a molecular weight of 18KD and contains two domains: one is the N-terminal WW region composed of 39 amino acid residues, which mediates the binding of Pin1 to phosphorylated proteins, and the other is the C-terminal peptidyl prolyl cis-trans isomerase (PPIase) region, which consists of 120amino acid residues. The conformational changes induced by PIN1 will change the function and stability of the target protein. Studies have shown that out of control of Pin1 may play a key role in a variety of diseases. It is worth noting that the up-regulation of Pin1 is associated with some cancers, while the down-regulation of PIN1 is associated with Alzheimer's disease. Pin1 inhibitors may have therapeutic significance for cancer and immune diseases.
