ANKS1B (Ankyrin repeat and sterile alpha motif domain-containing protein 1B) encodes a multi-domain protein that is mainly expressed in the brain and testis. This protein interacts with (AbetaPP), the precursor of amyloid beta protein, and may play a role in normal brain development and the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease. Because of the coding of postsynaptic effector proteins involved in the long-term biological changes of the central nervous system, it is possible to participate in the response of CNS drugs.
