EGR2 (Early Growth Response 2) is a DNA-binding protein that regulates the expression of key CMT genes and genes related to cholesterol/lipid biosynthesis. Egr2 plays an important role in hindbrain development and myelination of the peripheral nervous system. Ineffective mutations of Egr2 can lead to perinatal or neonatal death due to respiratory or eating disorders or both. Diseases associated with EGR2 include Neuropathy, Congenital hyperomyelinating, Autosomal Recessive inheritance and Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, Demyelination, Type 1D .
