Estrogen receptor 1 (ESR1) is a gene on chromosome 6. The gene encodes estrogen receptor, a ligand-activated transcription factor, consisting of several domains that are important for hormone binding, DNA binding and transcriptional activation. The protein is located in the nucleus and can form homodimer or heterodimer with estrogen receptor 2. Diseases associated with ESR1 include estrogen resistance and breast cancer. The related pathways include estrogen signal pathway and GPCR signal pathway.
