Mammalian rapamycin target (MTOR), as the main protein kinase in PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway, acts as the central regulator of cells and can directly or indirectly regulate the phosphorylation of at least 800 proteins. Therefore, mTOR can regulate cell growth, cell proliferation, cell movement, cell survival, protein synthesis, autophagy and transcription, and play a central role in physiology, metabolism, aging process and common diseases.
