RHEB also known as Ras homolog enriched in the brain is a GTP-binding protein, which belongs to a unique family of G proteins in the Ras superfamily and is widely expressed in humans and other mammals. Rheb is a homologue of Ras GTPase, which regulates cell growth, proliferation and regeneration through the mammalian target rapamycin (MTOR). The overexpression of RHEB can be found in a variety of human cancers. For this reason, the method of inhibiting RHEB to control the mTOR pathway has been studied as a possible treatment for uncontrollable tumor cell growth in several diseases, especially tuberous sclerosis.
